Head of Medical Services – Southern Africa
After graduating from the University of Stellenbosch in 1980, Graham spent a year as a medical officer in surgery at Frere Hospital London, followed by spells in anaesthetics, obstetrics and gynaecology and accident and emergency at Tygerberg Hospital.
After specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology, Graham worked as a registrar before moving to Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth as a specialist. A return to academic medicine saw him spend a decade at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Kalafong Hospital and at the University of Pretoria where he held the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Graham’s continuing interest in ethics and medicolegal matters led him to Medical Protection where he became a medicolegal consultant, before taking on his current role of Head of Medical Services, Southern Africa.
Dr Alasdair McKelvie
Head of Dental Services – Southern Africa
After graduating from Dundee Dental School in 1984, Alasdair spent a year as a house officer, gaining experience in restorative dentistry, before moving into general dental practice. Over the 23 years that followed he became an associate, before opening his own private practice which was sold in 2008.
Alasdair first became involved with Dental Protection in 2000, working as a local dental adviser then as an associate dentolegal consultant in 2003. He became a full-time member of the advisory staff in 2008 and is currently Head of Dental Services for Southern Africa.
