Professor Sir Peter was a hugely successful and respected surgeon, who was renowned for his pioneering work in the field of organ transplantation. He served as MPS’s President of Council for eight years, from 2007 – 2015, contributing significantly to the growth of MPS during his time in post. He was held in the highest regards by all who worked with him, and we were fortunate to have benefited from his wealth of knowledge, experience and insight.
In addition to a stellar career in medicine that spanned decades, he was knighted for services to medicine in 1996, and was awarded the Lister Prize for his contributions to surgical science in 1997, and the Medawar Prize for his contributions to transplantation in 2006.
